art for mental health

As a yoga teacher and an artist, one of my core values is health. Fusing art and well-being together is a passion as well as it being hugely transformative at improving people’s mental health, giving people a healthy outlet for self expression and communication.

Social prescribing, is a where a GP refers a patent to a link worker which then refers the patient to a non-clinical service such as an art, yoga or gardening class. As an ambassador for the College of Medicine, I am helping to help shape and create the standards for socially prescribing yoga. My dream is that some of the art and movement workshops on the shift tour can be offered to people through social prescribing, helping a wider variety of people have access to the arts. Social prescribing has the potential to solve major health inequalities in the UK.
